July’s Tunnel ‘Fits we can’t stop thinking about

Summer is flying by and it’s time to recap the best looks showcased by some of sports’ most prominent and best-dressed athletes for July. This month, our recap focuses mainly on the ESPYs and the WNBA All-Star Game, held in Los Angeles and Indianapolis, respectively. We saw Megan Thee Stallion make it red-carpet official with her basketball-player boyfriend, as well as good suits from Skylar Diggins, Rhyne Howard and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, alongside Jordan Chiles taking on the Betty Boop look.

Keep scrolling to see this month’s best Tunnel ‘Fits, and be sure to check back next month.

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson

Megan Thee Stallion and Dallas Mavericks forward Klay Thompson skipped the ESPYs — arguably one of the biggest nights in sports — to attend the first Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City. Megan was host for the event, which raised $1.2 million for underserved communities. Thompson wore a tuxedo, a bow tie and patent leather shoes for a look that could have easily veered into a Big Band Director’s uniform (the tuxedo stripe on the pants can be tricky). But on Thompson’s build and with that height, it’s sophisticated. Megan’s take on black tie was a halter-style, off-white gown with enough happening on the hip to mimic a wrestler’s championship belt (it works!).

Jordan Chiles

Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles’ ESPYs 2025 minidress reminded me of a woven leather handbag (think Bottega Veneta’s Intrecciato bag, which Jalen Brown and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are big fans of wearing) in the best way. Chiles wore a Cong Tri Spring 2025 fresh off the runway. The minidress’ plunging bodice and its hoop skirt, plus the single curl on her forehead, feel like a modern take on Ms. Boop-Boop-Be-Doop herself. The final noteworthy touch was Chiles’ long, studded 3D nails with an airbrushed design, taking nail art to new lengths.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Leave it to one of the NBA’s best-dressed to wear a Ferragamo three-piece suit to the ESPYs. This is a lot of look. Generally speaking, three-piece suits tend to have a more mobster feel, but not here. The ensemble is only slightly oversized but hangs with an elegant exaggeration. And technically, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is wearing a Black designer piece, as Ferragamo’s creative director is Maximilian Davis.

Ciara and Russell Wilson

Power couple Ciara and New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson attended the 2025 ESPYs, the latter wearing one of my favorite unexpected color combinations: navy and black. Wilson paired his navy blue velvet blazer with a black dress shirt, black trousers, and a lace-up boot. Ciara looked stunning and statuesque in her champagne-colored, off-the-shoulder gown, embellished with crystals.

Skylar Diggins

Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins attended the WNBA All-Star Game in a crystal-adorned suit. She always finds the perfect balance between masculine and feminine with her suiting, which I love. Plus, the crystals are photographing like drops of dew or rainfall on a flower, no?

Angel Reese

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is building on one of our favorite Tunnel Fits from last month with the sunglasses and the trench coat. This time, Reese posed on the Orange Carpet at the WNBA All-Star Game wearing a brocade cheetah-print trench, a warm complement to the honey blonde braids. The pop of color on her lips and (once again) the sliver of thigh are making the look chic.

Nneka Ogwumike

Seattle Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike doesn’t shy away from prints or bright colors, but showing up to the Orange Carpet wearing a yellow-and-black tiger-stripe printed dress with knee-high zebra print boots? Perfection. It’s playful but still makes a statement.

Rhyne Howard

Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard is another player who knows how to have fun with suits and their silhouettes. Take her Tunnel Fit on the Orange Carpet, for instance. She looks like a rock star with the silver chain embellishments adorning her suit.

Napheesa Collier

Napheesa Collier is demonstrating how to be somewhat demure while wearing sheer clothing. To balance out the sheer top, the Minnesota Lynx forward folded her trouser shorts down at the waist, and I’m enjoying the juxtaposition.

A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young

Now, this isn’t a Tunnel Fit per se, but Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson and guard Jackie Young are wearing their heart, um… desire for a larger share of the league’s revenue and higher salaries on their sleeve. It’s a great way to use fashion to make the most of a moment.
