JT is flying solo and is ready to sparkle with her debut solo project, ‘City Cinderella.’
Due for release on July 19, the 16-track project arrives on the arms of the momentum established by viral hits such as ‘No Bars’ and ‘Okay.’
Ahead of its landing, the City Girls femcee stuns on the latest cover of Paper Magazine.
Beyond posing it up for the striking spread, the 31-year-old got all sorts of candid about new music, her upcoming tour, once being “depressed” about sales of the group’s last project, and more.
Head below for pics and quotes…
On ‘City Cinderella’:
“City Cinderella is definitely a mixtape. People work on their albums for a year, albums are just different. So City Cinderella is not my first album, being that I made this project so damn fast. I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it. This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.
I mean, seven songs isn’t bad, but why not give a lot of music? I talk entirely too much to be doing [only] seven songs.”
On Sales of The City Girls’ Last Album ‘RAW’:
“One time, I remember being really depressed about our record sales. I was like, Oh my God, it’s f*cking over, and then ‘No Bars’ went viral again. That song got me through a lot, it will always be so special to me. I’m sad that it’s not even on my debut project, but I feel like it did what it had to do to get me where I’m at today.”
On Heading Out on Tour:
“To see my fans be able to buy merch in the venues, do meet-and-greets, you know, like the real tour experience — because we had some rough days at them clubs, baby. I’m happy for my fans to really get to sit down and get professional treatment, with real production and all that sh*t.”
