“I’m That Girl”: Coi Leray Sparks Twitter Debate After Calling Herself “The Queen of Versatility in My Generation”

Coi Leray may have seen her first two studio albums, 2022’s ‘Trendsetter‘ and 2023’s ‘Coi,’ miss the Billboard 200’s topmost quadrant with their respective #89 and #102 peaks, but that commercial nonperformance has acted as little deterrent for the 26-year-old.

Easily one of the most active femcees of the year, Leray has heat up social media and streaming waves with her inaugural Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit ‘Players,’ as well as serving guest appearances on work from Dave East, David Guetta, Metro Boomin, and more.

The buzz around those projects and others had Coi feeling herself on social media late last week – a feeling evidenced by a statement posted to Twitter that started quite the fiery debate in the comment section.

See what we mean inside.

Taking to Twitter Thursday (July 13), Coi gave herself a major on the pat on the back in celebration of the wins of 2023 so far.

“I’m the queen at versatility in my generation fa sho,” she said to her 860,000 followers on the platform.

And while some hopped in the tweet’s comments to give Leray her flowers, the majority contested the notion – with some calling out names like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Doechii, Doja Cat, and other female rappers as more versatile.

Coi opted out of going back-and-forth with naysayers. In fact, longtime fans of the rising rapstress know confident statements like that seen above are far from out of the ordinary for her.

Just two months ago she bragged about her versatility while being sure to advise followers she’s not arrogant.

“I’m that girl. Real life. Offline. In the booth. On the stage. On the red carpet. On the radio. Overseas. And that’s just what it is,” she said in a slew of tweets.
