Hot 100: Shaboozey’s ‘Bar Song’ Lands Historic 19th Week at #1 After Beating Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga’s ‘Die With a Smile’ in Tight Chart Race

Lady Gaga fans (affectionately called Little Monsters) are roaring in shock on Monday (November 25) after news broke that Shaboozey‘s breakout hit, ‘A Bar Song,’ edged out her smash ‘Die with a Smile‘ in this week’s tight race for the Hot 100 championship.

In what was expected to be the week Gaga and Bruno Mars‘ megahit finally ascended to the Hot 100 throne, ‘Bar’ beat them to the punch and landed a historic 19th week in the pole position instead.

Here are the numbers that powered the latter’s placement:

  • Streaming ≈ 19.6 million U.S.-based streams
  • Sales ≈ 8,000 digital downloads
  • Radio Airplay ≈ 69.5 million audience impressions

In addition to increased attention brought on by CMAs backlash, ‘Bar’ was also discounted to .69 on iTunes over the sales tracking period.

For Gaga, the ascension would’ve marked the 6th time of her career she’s captured the all-genre chart’s top spot following previous megahits ‘Just Dance,’ ‘Poker Face,’ ‘Shallow,’ ‘Born This Way,’ and ‘Rain On Me.’

For Bruno, on the other hand, the rise would’ve come as his history-making ninth.

With his latest frame atop the tally in tow, Shaboozey has now tied the all-time record for longest-running #1 hit in the chart’s 66-year history – a space he shares with Lil Nas X‘s Billy Ray Cyrus-assisted hit ‘Old Town Road‘ which rode in the position for a whopping 19 weeks in 2019.

Unlike LNX, however, the Country superstar is the first to own the chart championship for as long without accompaniment.

Look below to see who joins Shaboozey, Gaga, and Bruno in this week’s refreshed top 10.
