Netflix has dropped first look at Tyler Perry‘s new thriller ‘Straw’ starring Taraji P. Henson and Teyana Taylor.

The film follows Janiyah (Henson), who is a single mom, trying to cash a check to provide a simple lunch for her sick daughter, only to be wrongly accused of a crime.

This pushes her into a larger conspiracy, and she has to fight her way through it.

Starring alongside the actress are Taylor, Sherri Shepherd, Glynn Turman, Sinbad, Rockmond Dunbar, Mike Merrill, and Ashley Versher.

The ‘How Do You Want It’ songstress plays a law enforcement officer caught up in the investigation.

Explored are various themes like survival, systemic failure, and the fine line between stability and collapse.

‘Hidden Figures’ actress Henson revealed that the movie was filmed in just four days. She expresses:

“To think we shot in four days while I was still working on Fight Night. But that’s what I like about Tyler Perry, he’s fast, and I can be fast too. He knew he had a limited amount of time with me. He used it wisely’.

This marks Perry’s return to thrillers on Netflix with prior films like ‘A Fall from Grace’ and ‘Mea Culpa.’

‘Straw’ premieres on June 6 on Netflix.
