The MC, born Willie Maxwell II, faced at least five years in prison and up to nine years for the offenses.
Last year, the ‘Trap Queen’ rapper plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Arrested at Rolling Loud New York, the 31-year-old was one of six people charged with conspiring to possess and distribute over 100 kilos of controlled substances — including heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl across New Jersey and Long Island from 2019 onwards.
Initially disputing the claims, Fetty Wap eventually fessed to charge – after being re-arrested and accused of threatening someone who he allegedly branded a “rat.”
By way of his legal team, he cited the financial pressures of fame for his involvement. This was in a specific bid for a lower sentence. Prosecutors reportedly pushed for a seven to nine-year prison term, drawing on his Rap lyrics which they say glamorize the drug trade.
Ultimately, a six-year prison stint was handed down. [Source]
