In a ‘controversial’ on-court interview, Coco Gauff urged the tennis fans to jeer her. The 21-year-old Gauff recently defeated Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open in Rome.
And after making it to the semifinals, the American celebrity was interviewed in front of the audience on the court. The US Open winner from 2023 was questioned about her dietary choices.
Gauff was questioned about why she likes spaghetti with cacio e pepe instead of carbonara. The 21-year-old laughed awkwardly before acknowledging that she might be on the verge of causing a stir. The audience’s reaction to Gauff’s audacious assertion was subdued; no booing could be heard.
Gauff is in excellent shape and presently ranked third in the world. Later this month, she is a favorite to win the French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. However, she has a semifinal to look forward to this week in Italy.
In the final eight, No. 4 seed Gauff easily defeated No. 7 seed Andreeva 6-4, 7-6.
