20 years after scoring her biggest Billboard hit yet with ‘Dip It Low,’ actress-singer Christina Milian surprised in a recent interview when she admitted she wouldn’t mind breathing new life into the 2004-released cut with a little help from Doja Cat.
Milian has been hot on the promo trail for the last month in support of her Netflix ratings smash ‘Meet Me Next Christmas.’
And while she spoke glowingly about the holiday film’s creation process, future acting gigs, and more, one question that repeatedly reared its head in her interviews was her intent to return to music – a quizzing the 2x GRAMMY nominee typically answered in a nondescript manner.
While chatting it up with famed photographer Svenja Ava, however, she offered surprising detail.
“Never say never,” she replied when asked about new music. “I will say my passion for music and the music industry and where I was in my earlier times doesn’t feel the same as when I was younger. It might be due to my life [because] I’ve got kids and I like to be there for them.”
Beyond the grueling schedule of music (versus acting), Milian didn’t seemed like much of a fan about how much the industry has changed since she was last active.
“The industry scares me,” she relayed. “How do you know how many albums you’ve sold? How do you know how many singles? How do you make money? What do you do? It’s so confusing.”
Despite her feelings on returning to music, Milian suggested she wouldn’t be against collaborating with one of Rap’s hottest female hitmakers – Doja.
“If there was an artist right now I’d want to do a song with it’s Doja Cat,” she shared (as seen in the clip above) before saying, “[The song] would be like ‘Dip It Low’ remix or something.”
Elsewhere in the hour-long chat she praised Ashanti as a “great writer,” revisited highlights from her own multi-faceted career, and so much more.
