Chart Check: Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ Becomes the First Black Female Album to Nab OVER 450 Weeks on the Billboard 200

Thanks to the murky rollout and few nonperforming singles that accompanied its release in 2016, no one would’ve guessed Rihanna‘s eighth studio album ‘Anti‘ would go on to be one of the century’s most successful LPs.

Already boasting multiple high-certified hits from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and printed in Billboard record books for multiple reasons ahead of last year, the opus was given another lifeline by the diva’s soaring 2023 Super Bowl performance – good favor that’s extending well into this year.

In fact, Billboard etched her name in its history books again thanks to news its surpassed another tenancy milestone this week.

As if being the first album by a Black female artist to secure 400 weeks on the Billboard 200 wasn’t enough to boast (as we reported here), the refreshed edition of the hitlist finds ‘Anti’ at #160 in its 451st week of charting.

Because of this, the ‘Work’-housing LP has worked its way to becoming the first LP by a woman of color to pass the 450-week threshold on the main album chart.

Extending its reign as one of the longest-running albums in the history of the Billboard 200 among all women, only Adele‘s ’21’ (615 weeks), Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Born To Die’ (567), and Taylor Swift‘s ‘1989’ (516 weeks) have accumulated more time on the tally.
