In a battle rife with cyberbullying, verbal abuse, and threats of violence, Anita Baker, the iconic "Sweet Love" singer, has made a bold decision to cut Babyface from her highly anticipated "Songstress" tour. The clash erupted following the cancellation of Babyface's opening slot during the tour's New Jersey stop last month. Today, Anita took to Twitter to announce her solo continuation of the tour, citing personal safety as the driving force behind her decision. Faced with relentless cyberbullying, verbal abuse, and even threats of violence from Babyface's fanbase, she could no longer tolerate the toxic environment that had unfolded. "After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone," the singer tweeted. The feud between the two singers ignited last month when Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds was slated to open for Anita at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Babyface later explained in a tweet that his opening slot was axed due to technical issues causing delays in Anita’s set. Expressing his regret, he expressed his sadness to fans who were eagerly awaiting their joint performance. However, the fallout from the cancellation led to an onslaught of threats directed at Anita from Babyface's fanbase. After weeks of enduring the aftermath in silence, she finally spoke out, alluding to Babyface's silence in addressing the matter. The “Caught Up in the Rapture” singer clarified the nature of their tour, emphasizing that Babyface was the "special guest/support act" rather than a co-headliner. She expressed her frustration with the false narrative surrounding their tour, which had fueled unrealistic expectations and aggression from Babyface's fans towards her. Urging Babyface to speak the truth, she called upon him to intervene and halt the online bullying targeting her.   With terms like "Kenny's Crazies" thrown into the mix, the “Angel” singer made a direct plea for Babyface to take action and put an end to the attacks.   Despite, what she calls her unwavering kindness and support towards him as the special guest/support act on her tour, she found herself facing relentless trolls and fabricated news, causing harassment that she refused to tolerate. He should tell you guys, the Truth," she said.   Somehow, Beyonce, who is currently on her Renaissance World Tour, got dragged into the drama where Anita made claims that Babyface hates Queen Bey: In one tweet, she said, “Kenny’s Crazies are online Bullies. @Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour." In 2006, Babyface filed a breach of contract lawsuit against singer Anita Baker. He claimed that she owed him more than $250,000. The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, stated that Anita had broken two oral agreements with Babyface. He had co-written, produced, and performed on the song “Like You Used to Do” on Anita’s 2004 album My Everything. The lawsuit alleged that Anita did not pay Babyface for his work as a producer, which amounted to a minimum of $100,000 in producer's royalties from the sale of over 500,000 albums. During her Twitter rant, Anita confirmed she won the lawsuit Babyface filed against her almost 20 years ago: She vowed to continue speaking out against online trolls who continue to attack her: Well, we weren’t expecting that. Babyface got wind of the news that he’ll no longer be on the tour and responded: “I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from ‘The Songstress Tour,” the 64-year-old singer wrote in a post on Instagram. “It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. I was looking forward to the rest of the dates.
