Billboard 200: Billie Eilish’s ‘Hit Me Hard & Soft’ Debuts at #2 with Singer’s BIGGEST First-Week Sales Ever

Three years separated fans of Billie Eilish from her last studio album, 2021’s ‘Happier Than Ever,‘ and opening sales of the project suggest they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the set’s follow-up – the May 17-released ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft.’

Details inside.

Billie Eilish’s ‘Hit Me Hard & Soft’

First-Week Sales (SPS):  339,000 units

First-Week Sales (Pure): 191,000 units

Billboard 200 Debut:  #2

Bested only by Taylor Swift‘s mega-selling 11th studio album, ‘Tortured Poets Department,’ Billie’s latest – launched on the wings of the single ‘Lunch‘ – debuted at #2 on the refreshed Billboard 200 to total sales of 339,000 units.

And while the album marks her first to miss the tally’s top spot its accompanying numbers are the largest attached to her first-week performance yet.

The ‘Hard & Soft’ sales sum surpasses Eilish’s previous personal best, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?,’ which opened to figures slightly north of 313,000 when it premiered at #1 on the all-genre chart in 2019.

Notably, 90,000 of the ‘Hard & Soft’ sales were vinyl – marking another personal milestone for the 22-year-old.

“The new album’s sales were supported by its availability across nine vinyl editions of the album, four CD editions, one cassette tape, a standard digital album, and three deluxe digital sets,” according to Billboard.
