Ari Lennox isn’t just embarking on her ‘Soft Girl Era,’ she’s setting sail on a new music journey too. One that doesn’t include her longtime label, Dreamville Records.

The R&B belle has been signed to J. Cole‘s imprint since 2015 and was under development for years before her 2019 breakthrough with  ‘Shea Butter Baby.’ A set that arrives as part of a joint pact with Interscope Records.

In recent years, however, Lennox has vented publicly about her frustrations with her label predicament. Indeed, last October, she took to Instagram and wrote:

“Interscope and Dreamville have been playing with me all month and I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired of people treating me like they’re sorry for me and like I’m the face of mental health. I’m ok and I’ve never been happier. What I don’t like is being signed and lied to and manipulated. Not one person at those labels ever knew how to market or protect me. Y’all don’t know the half. Constant let down and neglect. This industry stuff will never be for me.”

Now, TMZ Hip Hop has confirmed that Lennox has departed Dreamville.

Per the publication, the starlet will now release music solely via Interscope, with ‘Soft Girl Era’ being the first fruit of the refreshed pact.

It would appear that the Dreamville exit comes with no drama. Earlier this month, Lennox rocked the Dreamville Festival and thanked Cole and the imprint for elevating her career.
