Amerie may have her dedicated fans on the edge of their seats with her recent teases of new music, but before she unveils official news about that long-awaited project she’s giving those in need of an “Amerie fix” something else to tide them over.

Amerie (born Amerie Rogers) may have just celebrated her 45th birthday on January 12, but it appears the GRAMMY nominee and New York Times best-selling author is the one handing out gifts.

Taking to her official YouTube handle on Wednesday (January 22), Rogers lifted the lid on news about her debut novel ‘This Is Not a Ghost Story.’

“My novel is about a ghost—a Black man who is the first person to come back from the other side but it isn’t really a ghost story. It’s an exploration of identity, race, celebrity culture, how we see the world and the people around us, and, perhaps most importantly, how we see ourselves. I also wanted to explore what we desire and how that desire is so intrinsically tied to our self-identity and self-worth,” she shared in the clip’s caption.

‘Ghost’ follows the singer-songwriter-author’s other published efforts ‘Because You Love to Hate Me,’ ‘Cool. Awkward. Black.,’ and ‘You Will Do Great Things’ and is set to land on bookshelves June 10.
