Airbnb Says This European Hotspot Is The Top Trending Fall Destination For Gen Z Travelers Seeking ‘Affordable Luxury’

The start of fall is officially here – and Airbnb believes that Gen Z is seeking “affordable luxury” and lengthy seasonal escapes in Paris. In a report released earlier this month, the travel booking and experiences platform noted that Paris is a “top trending fall destination for Gen Z” travelers.
The travel company noted that this fall, during the shoulder season, Gen Zers want to enjoy a dream Paris getaway “without breaking the bank.” It also said that France’s capital offers affordable Airbnb experiences “under $100 per person.” Per the source, among them are going vintage shopping at Saint-Ouen Market, taking a Crazy Horse Paris dance class, and sightseeing and pastry tasting at “a hidden chocolate factory.” Travelers may separately consider purchasing an “Official Paris City Pass,” starting at €59, which provides access to local activities, landmarks, and experiences at a reduced price.
Though Paris is a year-round destination, a visit during Fall 2025 has some unique draws. The city will celebrate the reopening of the Notre-Dame towers at the start of the season. Also in the early autumn, late creative industry visionary Virgil Abloh‘s first large-scale European exhibition will debut and be on display coinciding with Paris Fashion Week.
What Else Is There To Know About Airbnb’s 2025 Fall Travel Trends For Gen Z?
Most of Gen Z is in their early adulthood, as the generation spans ages 13 to 28 at the time of this reporting. Interestingly, Airbnb reported that “Gen Z traveler searches are up 26 percent for this fall, with young travelers taking out their passports for longer international escapes compared to Millennials.” Regarding the reason for the increase, the travel company theorized that Gen Zers may be drawn to the affordability of international travel during shoulder seasons. In this case, the fall shoulder season is a sweet spot of lower tourism and high affordability that destinations might experience following the summertime boom but before the end-of-year holidays.
Besides Paris, other hotspots where Gen Z is reportedly interested in enjoying an affordable fall getaway span the globe. Airbnb says they are Osaka, Japan; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Miami, FL, United States; Porto, Portugal; Cartagena, Colombia; London, United Kingdom; Munich, Germany; Mexico City, Mexico; and Santiago, Chile.
