US Attacks Iran Right Before Midterms, Trump Reveals $4B Sent To Israel

The U.S. military launched strikes on Iranian targets on Monday, the day before Election Day, despite President Donald Trump declaring that the U.S. wouldn’t launch strikes on Iran before the midterms just a few weeks ago.
According to PBS News, a U.S. official, who wasn’t authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, said Monday that the strikes targeted Iranians using surface-to-air missiles against the U.S. in the Strait of Hormuz. The official confirmed the attack, which U.S. officials are calling “defensive” strikes, after Iranian state media began reporting explosions being heard on the islands of Qeshm and Hengam, which are located in the strait, and in the nearby mainland area of Bandar Abbas.
This was only the latest instance of U.S. forces launching airstrikes in the Middle East in recent weeks without disclosing them publicly, as it has done up until now.
From the Washington Post:
It’s also the latest example of the Pentagon under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth withholding information that could be politically damaging to him, President Donald Trump or the Republican Party.
Speaking Tuesday to reporters about the Qeshm Island attack, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi accused the U.S. of ongoing aggression but expressed commitment to diplomatic negotiations continuing through Qatari mediators. He said Tehran retains the right to self-defense and “is prepared for any scenario,” the semiofficial Tasnim News Agency reported.
But let’s back up a step…
If Hegseth is withholding public information about the airstrikes because it hurts Trump and the GOP — and it does, as the war in Iran and the subsequent spike in gas prices are among the leading reasons the president’s approval rating are so abysmal and the Republican Party is losing support — then you kind of have to wonder why the Pentagon is directing these strikes at all at such a crucial time.
In fact, a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll last month found that Trump’s approval rating had fallen to 33 percent, with 65 percent of respondents saying it was a mistake for Trump to even start this war, which he appears to have done at the behest of the Israeli government. And, according to PBS, Monday’s airstrikes came days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressed Trump for more strikes.
So, as much as “America First” has served as a MAGA credo, one really has to wonder whether Trump has been serving as the president of the U.S., or Israel’s secondary prime minister.
And if you’re an “America First” Trump supporter, you really don’t want to ask Trump to clarify that matter himself; just ask Fox News.
“I’m at 99% approval rating in Israel. Can you believe it?” Trump asked Fox’s Brian Kilmeade during a telephone interview. “If people ever got tired of me in the US, I’ll move to Israel and become prime minister.”
Uh, sir — in the country you’re actually supposed to be in charge of, where you’re polling at 33%, you are absolutely threatening people with a good time.
But, actually, let’s back up a bit, once again…
Just before Trump mused about moving to Israel and running that nation, he dropped the bomb on Kilmeade — uh, so to speak — when he revealed that the U.S. is “giving Israel $4 billion, but it gets cut off at the end of the year,” to which Kilmeade inquired, “Why?”
“Why? Because they don’t need it, Brian. I asked them. Bibi Netanyahu brought it up. He said, ‘I think it would be appropriate if we do not receive aid,'” Trump answered.
Yeah — I’m pretty sure Kilmeade was asking why we were giving Israel $4 billion in the first place, not why we are cutting the money faucet off at the end of the year. If “they don’t need it,” then why are taxpayer dollars going to Israeli forces at all?
This is why your vote matters, good people. Act accordingly.
