Trump’s New Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia, Is Bad On Stage And Lying About Being A Lawyer

In today’s episode of The MAGA Meritocracy Strikes Again, President Donald Trump has chosen a new White House press secretary, 42-year-old Katie Zacharia.
At least I think she’s new.
I’m pretty sure that’s not Karoline Leavitt.
Or Kayleigh McEnany.
Or Pam Bondi.
Or Kellyanne Conway.
Or Betsy DeVos.
Or Linda McMahon.
Or Erika Kirk.
Or Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2007 pageant winner Lauren Caitlin Upton.
Or almost every female Fox News anchor ever.
Or Druski.
Nah, I’m pretty sure that’s Katie Zacharia. And I’m positive that Trump selected her from whatever warehouse the MAGA world keeps its spare white women with bleached blonde hair and an IQ slightly above whatever number Trump’s latest approval ratings are at.
Zacharia made her White House debut in front of the press pool on Tuesday, and all people have talked about is how she sounded like an actual ChatGPT bot that used “5th-grader reading out loud for the first time” as an AI prompt.
Zacharia did her job, of course—albeit in a way that suggested she wasn’t very well rehearsed. She told all the right lies, and said all the silly, delusional things like, “Trump’s had a historic one-day war (in Venezuela), and now we have a booming economy.”
Still, the clumsiness of her speech has a lot of people speculating that Leavitt’s replacement will be out of a job before anyone can even remember her face well enough to tell her apart from any of the aforementioned blonde Karen carbon copies.
But Zacharia being bad at the podium might be the least of her worries, or the Trump administration’s, because both she and Trump have repeatedly claimed she’s a lawyer, which turns out isn’t exactly true.
According to the Washington Post, Zacharia has a law degree from Pepperdine University, where she graduated in 2011, but she has not been admitted to the bar in California, and there’s no public record of her passing the bar in any other state in the U.S.
On Wednesday, a complaint was filed with the California State Bar Association against Trump’s new White House mouthpiece, accusing Zacharia of committing a “crime.” The nonprofit watchdog organization Campaign for Accountability filed the complaint.
From Forbes:
Zacharia allegedly said in at least 18 TV appearances from February 2025 through October 2026 that she is a lawyer. “The repetition and breadth of these statements weigh heavily in favor of investigation,” the complaint says. The California Business and Professions code states “any person advertising or holding himself or herself out as practicing or entitled to practice law or otherwise practicing law who is not an active licensee of the State Bar, or otherwise authorized pursuant to statute or court rule to practice law in this state at the time of doing so, is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in a county jail or by a fine of up to $1,000” or both. The Campaign for Accountability asked the state bar association to refer Zacharia to prosecutors if it found her in violation of the law.
Once again, this is what happens when the anti-DEI administration hides its racism and prejudice behind a so-called meritocracy, only to employ and appoint the most mediocre of mediocre whites, whose only qualifications revolve around blind MAGA loyalty and a certain aesthetic.
Sad.
