Surviving Trump: Trump Defends White House Media Ban, Touts ‘Term Three’ Accomplishments, And More [Op-Ed]

Welcome back for another edition of Surviving Trump, our round-up of the latest in President Donald Trump’s lies, corruption, and all-around Trump-foolery. 

Apparently, this is a series that would undoubtedly get NewsOne banned from the White House press corps, not because we’re lying about the lying-est president in recent history, but because Trump’s orangey-white supremacist butt gets hurt when the overwhelming majority of news outlets fail to report anything positive about him, which is pretty much always, and for the same reason virtually no media outlets would report anything positive about fire, brimstone, and flying locusts filling the skies.

Basically, the MAGA apocalypse never produces any good news, so it gets none. It’s pretty simple.

Anyway, let’s get into it…

Trump Defends White House Ban On CNN, MS NOW and Politico, As Outlets Sue Over 1st Amendment Attack

The most annoying thing about Trump’s constant attacks on the free press, including his recent banning of CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, is that he is so obviously and demonstrably the “fake news” he has spent the last decade complaining about. 

Look, all politicians lie, but Trump is in a league of his own when it comes to his reliance on propaganda as virtually his only mode of communication. Trump doesn’t just lie; he lies compulsively, and they’re consistently the most absurd, easily fact-checked lies told by any politician in any of our lifetimes, which, of course, is saying a lot.

From his six-year-long election fraud propaganda campaign, to his claims that his administration single-handedly reduced crime that was already trending downward long before he took office, to his claims that children are being dropped off at school, where sex-change operations are being performed on them, to his constant claims of victory in Iran that keep getting swiftly debunked by reality, to “they’re eating the pets,” to his claims that “Biden’s FBI” infiltrated the Capitol on Jan. 6 — Trump’s entire existence as a U.S. president has been a 24/7, 365 detachment from any semblance of what’s going on in the real world.

Since he announced the ban, Trump hasn’t once mentioned a specific grievance with any of the three outlets. He hasn’t mentioned a single lie they told about him; he’s only vaguely declared that “Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States.”

And that hasn’t changed now that he’s claiming he is not attacking the free press; he also banned the free press.

“The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish,” he posted on Truth Social on Monday. “It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America. It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW!”

Of course, that was after he told reporters in the White House that “the ban on the free press” was happening, which may or may not have been a Freudian slip.

On Monday, CNN, MS NOW and Politico filed a joint First Amendment lawsuit to restore their access to the White House, arguing that “this ban could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment nor a more blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles,” which could result in the federal courts stepping in, just as one did when the Pentagon tried to implement its own free speech-defying press policy, which virtually every mainstream media outlet — including conservative outlets like Newsmax and Fox News — responded to with a resounding “hell no,” leading to the policy being ruled unconstitutional.

Speaking of Newsmax and Fox News, notice there’s no concern that those outlets, which have been successfully sued for peddling MAGA propaganda, might be banned from the White House. In fact, right-wing sites seem to be immune. Trump is even out here touting Breitbart News — yes, that Breitbart News — as its beacon of truth and “the only outlet that covers him fairly.”

Come on, y’all — this is a man who loves “fake news,” is “fake news,” and relies on “fake news” as his only political refuge. He’s just mad because media outlets won’t lie for him.

Meanwhile, according to USA Today, major TV networks have decided to suspend their own White House pool coverage in protest of Trump’s ban, including ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox News — yes, that Fox News.

I mean, I guess this is one way to unite the nation.

Now, This Fool Wants to Rename AI

In Trump’s everlasting quest to rename things at random because he needs to force-feed his legacy to a U.S. populace that rejects it, he is now proposing that artificial intelligence shouldn’t be called artificial intelligence, because that name has gotten a bad rap as of late, and so he has provided a few options for an AI rebrand, and he’s even polling his supporters (because those are the only people who would entertain this nonsense) to see which one they like best.

“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence,” Trump posted, invoking the “many people” who may or may not be in the room with us. “A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI).”

Since earlier this month, we have been reporting on AI industry leaders and insiders, including employees and CEOs at Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI’s Elon Musk, of all people,  sounding the alarm on AI technology advancing fast, being handled irresponsibly, and threatening to “kill all humans” within the next decade or so. Trump, the president who never met an expert he didn’t want to undermine in the name of MAGA science, responded by calling it all a big, all-caps-worthy “HOAX,” while fancying himself a “Hoax Buster.”

Again, Mr. President, you are the “fake news.” You are the “hoax.”

Changing AI’s name won’t change the fact that even most U.S. adults think AI is advancing too quickly, but sure, keep banging that drum all the way to the midterms. It would be the perfect example of Trump Intelligence, which is, if nothing else, artificial.

Whose World? Trump’s World!

Speaking of AI, Trump’s love affair with AI slop continues to be an every-hour-on-the-hour thing, as do his self-revealed fantasies of global authoritarianism. So here he is, posting his face looking at a globe from above with the words “His Hemisphere,” because that’s definitely what a well-adjusted adult holding the highest office in the nation should be doing.

In the image, the only nation clearly shown is Greenland, which likely means this post was inspired by the new Greenland deal he’s been boasting about, even though it’s the same deal we have had with the nation for 75 years, with a few more bells and whistles.

“I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the United States permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland, completely addressing ALL of our many U.S. concerns,” Trump claimed in a lengthy social media post.

The U.S. has had a deal allowing it a largely unfettered military presence in Greenland since 1951, but the new deal is reportedly different because it makes U.S. military presence in the region permanent, according to Trump, and bars non-NATO nations from establishing their own presence in Greenland. That apparently makes it a different deal, despite the fact that the 1951 Defense of Greenland agreement was a NATO agreement.

I mean, it really seems like this new deal is a consolation prize to placate an imbecilic president who wanted to outright take over Greenland, but whatever.

Trump Still Thinks He’s Currently Serving A Third Term

Earlier this year, Trump declared that “anybody running for President or Vice President should be forced to take a Cognitive Examination,” which seemed to be based on the fact that his own doctors keep making him take cognitive exams, which he doesn’t seem to know isn’t a thing that speaks to him being of sound mind. He also didn’t seem to understand that calling his current term “THREE” undermined the message he was going for.

Well, unsurprisingly, that hasn’t changed since April.

On Friday, Trump posted what he called his “TOP 25 TRUMP ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF TERM THREE,” which included the termination of “scams” that only he has declared a scam, like the green energy efforts he has long declared war on, the “8 wars” he keeps claiming he ended without giving explicit examples, his National Guard deployments, which have largely been blocked by federal judges, including SCOTUS, because they’re unconstitutional, and the aforementioned drop in crime that he is in no way responsible for.

Of course, Trump lying about his non-accomplishments is just par for the MAGA course, but his insistence that he’s actually served three terms because he still can’t handle his loss in 2020 should be a concern to anyone who wants to believe the nation isn’t being run by a poster child for mental health awareness for senior citizens.

We gotta start electing better people, y’all. Remember that come November.
