Pete Hegseth has just as much experience running a Denny’s as he does running the United States military, which is why the president of people who believe Boone’s Farm wine is a staple for gatherings made him the Secretary of Defense.

And when you employ grown-up frat boys to run one of the most involved and intricate departments of the federal government, don’t be surprised when it all starts to look like a pile of discarded Legos.

On Tuesday, the Warmonger (or whatever it is that he wants to be called) decided that institutions like the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Naval Academy in Annapolis should stop granting tenure to civilian faculty.
“Tenure often leads to academic stagnation, faculty complacency, and institutional inability to adapt to emerging needs,” he wrote. “Additionally, it contributes to [a] curriculum that drifts from the mission of educating our warfighters to the research priorities of the tenured academics,” CBS News reports.

Hegseth added that his goal is to “address the structural mechanisms that have allowed civilian academic norms to dilute our focus on lethality.”

In short, Hegseth decided that learning all of that crazy stuff that makes people well-rounded doesn’t make warfighters! Basically, the government wants to create an elite force of killing machines that are Manchurian candidates who are all automatons, which makes sense if the other part of the plan is to have this robot-like military force to fight senseless wars. Looking at you, Iran.
Hegseth said his goal is to “address the structural mechanisms that have allowed civilian academic norms to dilute our focus on lethality.”
Translation: “All those books smarts make soldiers less violent. Also, who needs independent thought when soldiers take commands.”

The move comes two months after CBS News exclusively reported that top brass at the Pentagon wanted to end civilian tenure at military academies by launching a “line-by-line” elimination of courses that were claimed to be “ideologically driven.”

Basically, this is the latest wheel in the tricycle of terror that is the Trump administration’s attempts to keep Americans placated and ill-informed. Think about it, since taking office, the Trump administration has gone out of its way to kneecap the Department of Education, Head Start, and universities that don’t bend to demands.

And now the administration is putting its thumb on the scale of what Americans can study by changing the rules around federal student loans. Under the new system, graduate and professional programs face different federal borrowing limits, and the Department of Education has narrowly defined which programs qualify for the higher “professional” loan limits.

So while Hegseth is busy deciding which professors are sufficiently lethal, the administration is also deciding which educational programs are sufficiently valuable to receive federal backing.

Apparently, education is no longer supposed to make you think. It’s supposed to make you employable, obedient, and, preferably, useful to the machine.
