Inside Lauren And Gregory’s Canary Islands Honeymoon: Volcanic Views And Sunrise Moments

Lauren and Gregory traded New York City for the sun-drenched shores of Spain’s Canary Islands for a honeymoon that felt both luxurious and once-in-a-lifetime.

The Bronx-raised couple, now living by the beach in Belle Harbor, Queens, set off for their honeymoon in November 2024 — eight months after their wedding — ready to unwind and experience something entirely new.

Drawn by the destination’s beauty, calm atmosphere, and world-class resorts, they split their time between two islands: Tenerife and Lanzarote. What followed was a six-day escape filled with private villas, scenic adventures, and moments that made the beginning of their journey as husband and wife feel unforgettable.

For Lauren and Gregory, the Canary Islands offered the perfect balance of exclusivity and relaxation.

“It felt exotic and exclusive,” Lauren says. “A once-in-a-lifetime trip.”

Located off the northwest coast of Africa, the Spanish archipelago is known for its year-round warm weather, dramatic landscapes, and luxury resorts — making it an ideal destination for couples looking for something beyond the typical honeymoon experience.

Royal River Luxury Hotel, Tenerife South (3 Nights)

The couple began their honeymoon at the Royal River Luxury Hotel in Tenerife, where they stayed in a private villa complete with its own pool. From the design to the service, the experience immediately set the tone for the trip.

“The views and amenities were breathtaking,” Lauren says. “The service made me feel like an A-list celebrity.”

Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote (3 Nights)

After a quick 30-minute flight, they continued their honeymoon in Lanzarote at the Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote.

Similar to their first stay, the resort offered a luxurious and serene atmosphere, with another private pool villa that elevated their experience even further.

What Made The Honeymoon So Special

For Lauren, it was the combination of luxury, intention, and unforgettable experiences that made the trip stand out.

Highlights included:

  • Waking up to floating breakfast setups with fruit, pastries and champagne
  • Touring volcanic vineyards
  • Dining at standout restaurants across both islands
  • Relaxing with spa treatments in a stunning setting
  • Stargazing near volcanic landscapes
  • Jet skiing along the coast

“I got to experience something I always wanted,” Lauren says. “It all felt so dreamy.”

The One Moment They’ll Never Forget

While the excursions and luxury amenities stood out, one of their most memorable moments was something much simpler. During their stay in Lanzarote, Gregory surprised Lauren with an early morning wake-up.

“He came out with blankets in hand and woke me up to watch the sunrise,” she says. “We went out in our pajamas and just sat together on the daybed watching the ocean.”

The moment caught her off guard in the best way possible.

“It really surprised me because I’m usually the one dragging him into spontaneous things,” she says.

What Couples Should Know Before Booking The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are a year-round destination, making them a great option regardless of season. One unique experience to be aware of is “La Calima,” a natural phenomenon where winds carry sand from the Sahara Desert across the islands, sometimes tinting the sky orange.

“It was surreal,” Lauren says. “You’re on a Spanish island but can feel how close you are to Africa.”

The couple also notes that the destination leans more slow-paced and relaxed, making it ideal for couples looking to unwind.

Would They Go Back?

Lauren and Gregory say they would absolutely return but next time, with a different phase of life in mind.

“We’d love to go back when we’re older, maybe with our future kids,” Lauren says. “There’s still so much to explore.”

How Travel Has Shaped Their Relationship

Travel has played a meaningful role in Lauren and Gregory’s relationship from the beginning. Their first trip together was to Turks and Caicos during the pandemic, when the resort was nearly empty. Since then, traveling together has helped them grow as partners.

“It’s taught us how to appreciate our differences and find balance,” Lauren says. “We both have stressful jobs, so when we travel, we make sure we’re both getting what we need out of the experience.”

Lauren and Gregory’s honeymoon wasn’t just a getaway — it was a reflection of how they travel, connect, and create space for each other in new environments.
