Here We Go Again: Trump Defies Federal Judge, Announces DC Golf Course Renovation

Welp, President Donald Trump has a new pet project in his mission to renovate select parts of Washington, D.C., including a White House wing, a reflecting pool, and a famous arts institution he keeps trying to put his name on.

Now, Trump has his sights on a D.C. golf course he says is scheduled for an overhaul, and, as with many Trump construction projects, a federal judge is telling him he can’t do it, to which he responds, predictably, by doing it anyway.

“I am pleased to announce that the Department of the Interior, under the auspices of Secretary Doug Burgum, and in conjunction with famed Golf Course Architect, Tom Fazio, has developed a plan to build a World Class Championship Golf Course on the site of the current East Potomac Golf Links, located in Washington, D.C.,” Trump wrote Monday. “When completed, it will be open to the Public while, at the same time, designed to the Highest Level of Golf and able to hold World Class Tournaments such as the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, and the Presidents Cup.”

Before we continue, I just want to point out that the most amazing thing about this lengthy post is that Trump got through it without mentioning how his golf course will be bigger and better than any golf course that could be constructed by past presidents like “Sleepy Joe Biden” and “Barack HUSSEIN Obama,” who failed for years to provide D.C. with the people’s golf course, which only a stable genius art-of-the-deal maker like “President DONALD J. TRUMP” could accomplish.

He did, however, default to his go-to claim: whatever he’s “fixing” desperately needs him because it’s a run-down, dilapidated disaster that only he can make new.

“The current Course is old, broken, dilapidated, and of no further use or effect. It is in very poor condition, with falling, dangerous, and disease infested trees and, importantly, a collapsing and hazardous seawall,” he wrote. “When the East Potomac Course was originally built, it was famous for no trees, with views of Washington, D.C., for all to see, but now, it is completely overgrown, dysfunctional, and unsafe.”

It’s interesting how Trump keeps discovering these post-apocalyptic wastelands in Washington, D.C., that no one noticed were there until he, and only he, came along to take up the cause of renovating them.

Anyway, let’s see what the court has to say about all of this, shall we?

Upon learning last week that the Interior Department had cleared hundreds of trees from the course, apparently in preparation for larger changes, the judge, Ana C. Reyes, had prohibited parks officials from taking down more trees until Oct. 26. She also requested that top administration officials appear at the hearing to discuss the issue.

On Sunday, Mr. Trump announced that the course, East Potomac Golf Links, would close for a 14-month renovation on Nov. 15, before returning to social media Monday morning to castigate the judge and announce the project would move forward.

He described Judge Reyes, an appointee of President Joseph R. Biden Jr., as “a crazed lunatic whose courthouse tapes will reveal, may be insane.” The Justice Department had requested that audio be released of a hearing she conducted last week, in which she angrily took the Trump administration to task for removing trees with minimal notice.

Ahead of the hearing on Monday, Judge Reyes also issued a forceful opinion rebuffing calls by the Justice Department that she recuse herself from the case, denying that the record in the case demonstrated bias, as the administration had alleged.

As usual, every federal judge who rules against the MAGA king — which includes the overwhelming majority of judges who preside over any federal case he’s involved in — is a “rogue judge” and a liberal “lunatic” who’s out to get him just because.

By the way, who’s taking bets on how many scapegoats he’s got lined up to charge with trumped-up crimes after his latest renovation becomes a disaster and he needs someone to blame?

So, basically, we’re in for another round of Trump behaving like a baby who got his bottle taken away after a court of law told him no. But whatever, it’s not like he has anything better to do. It’s not like we’re still in the midst of a failing economy largely due to an ongoing war he started, or anything like that.
