Does The Whole World Hate Our President? Naked Trump Statue Installed At European Parliament

Next time President Donald Trump tries desperately to convince the U.S. and the world that, under his leadership, “America” and its president are more respected around the globe than they’ve ever been before, somebody please remind him that inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, stands an 8.5-foot-tall golden statue of his bloated, obese, naked ass, sitting atop some poor, much skinnier soul, who, as far as I’m concerned, is meant to represent our collective last nerve.

Look, we’ve seen a few golden and bronze Trump statues erected since his second term started, but nothing like this. (And be forewarned, you can never unsee it.)

Well, I’ll never hear the words “The Emperor has no clothes” the same again. How about y’all?

“Trump likes gold,” said Danish artist Jens Galschiøt, the statue’s creator, over the phone after it was unveiled Tuesday. “In a way, I think he would like this sculpture.”

Titled “The Orange Plague,” the artwork has been installed in Strasbourg, France, the official seat of the European Parliament. The copper sculpture, also dubbed the “King of Injustice,” imagines the US president on the shoulders of a frail smaller figure. His thighs and sagging belly wrap tightly around the man’s head; his hands clutch at a long golf club and the scales of justice.

“I am sitting on the back of a man,” reads the text on the statue’s plinth. “He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except step down from his back.”

For Galschiøt, the work symbolizes what he sees as the US president’s threats to the environment and the rules-based world order. “Trump is destroying all the things I believe in,” he said.

OK, now this is just out of line. Will someone please remind Galschiøt that he’s undermining our president, who’s been trying his best to convince us he’s more physically fit than former President Barack Obama? How dare some French artist shatter our president’s delusion like this? In fact, there better be a very unflattering sculpture of Obama somewhere in the world, or else our commander-in-unearned-egotism is going to get the impression that other U.S. presidents haven’t been mocked all over the world nearly as often as he has. Does Iran even make Lego AI about anyone else?

But seriously, y’all understand somebody had to approve this, right?

CNN noted that “members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are entitled to host displays on parliament grounds, though all exhibitions must be approved by officials.” Parliamentary rules prohibit exhibitions deemed “offensive or of an inflammatory nature or contradictory to the values on which the Union is founded,” or those that “undermine the dignity of Parliament,” yet Galschiøt’s piece was still approved.

Bro, the world does not like this man.
