Williamsburg, ‘Pancake Capital Of The World,’ Serves Up Its First 2-Day Festival

For the first time ever, Williamsburg, Virginia, the “Pancake Capital of the World,” is hosting a two-day festival honoring the syrup-covered breakfast food, and those who love it.
The family-friendly festival starts on National Pancake Day this year, Friday, September 26. From 5:30 p.m. through 8:30 p.m., attendees will celebrate with pancakes and other morning-time favorites served, as their breakfast-for-dinner. Craft beers and wine will be available for attendees to toast fellow breakfast lovers with. Younger guests will likely enjoy the “Pancake Lab,” a dedicated area where they can creatively dress up their own pancake stacks with “delicious and imaginative toppings,” as well as get their faces painted.
Tickets for those 21 and over are $20 per person and include one alcoholic drink. General admission without the boozy beverage is $15 each. Children, college students, and Williamsburg Pancake Trail participants get free entry.
The celebration will ramp up on the second day of the pancake festival, Saturday, September 27, for which attendance is free. Things kick off at 10 a.m. The morning will include a World Pancake Eating Championship, where professional competitive eaters will face off for the win.. Another event will be an epically cute dachshund dog race called the “Sausage Sprint.” Also, families with young children may want to take them to the “pancake-themed children’s book reading.”
Throughout the two-day event, attendees can also expect to enjoy live entertainment and more community events and activities. “It’s a celebration of comfort food, creativity, and community — all served with a generous drizzle of syrup,” said Visit Williamsburg.
