What Are The Most Beautiful Hotels In The World? These Stunning Properties Just Made The List

Experiencing architectural beauty and craftsmanship is one of the most enriching and unique parts of travel – though often underrated.

There’s no arguing that a core element of what makes destinations distinctive is the types of architecture present. Each destination can present locally specific styles, historic gems, new builds, or a unique mix. And while sightseeing local architecture is a great way to learn more about a destination and get a sense of what makes it special, at hotels all over the globe, travelers can enjoy beautiful, history-filled buildings without even leaving the property.

Since 2015, Prix Versailles has been spotlighting the “world’s most beautiful” architecture and design achievements, making it a great resource for finding hotels to put on your travel bucket list. This year, in the 12th edition of its World Architecture and Design Awards, 16 properties are listed as Prix Versailles’ 2026 annual hotel “laureates.”

One of the picks is The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace, a 75-acre haven fit for royalty. Located in the Maniyagarh Hills of Madhya Pradesh, central India, the 65-room property – previously a fortress – offers views of the nearby Panna National Park, along with grand architecture and refined, elegant decor. Another property listed was Desert Rock, a luxury resort literally built into the Hejaz Mountains located between Al Wajh and Umluj in Saudi Arabia. Another is Naboa, an eco-friendly boutique hotel in Tulum, Mexico‘s Mayan jungle that says, “Here, the architecture listens, the textures speak, and every gesture — every scent, every sip, every silence — offers a quiet homecoming.”

What Makes A Hotel A Prix Versailles Laureate?

The award, presented in conjunction with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), aims to recognize properties that aren’t just breathtaking, but also exceptional additions to their surroundings.

“The ‘World’s Most Beautiful’ Achievements recognition, granted by the Prix Versailles, highlights the primary role of the Laureates in beautifying and improving the living environment,” says the awarding body. “These achievements, awarded each year by the Prix Versailles, are examples presented to the world, signs of exceptional architecture and design.”

China, France, and Italy tied for the most properties on the list, with two each. Prix Versailles’ World Jury awarded establishments across 24 World Titles, including individual categories for museums, airports, restaurants, and more.
