In today’s episode of Trump’s Policy Names Always Sound Like They Were Plagiarized From Bad Comic Books, on Sunday, President Donald Trump announced the formation of an artificial intelligence task force, and he stretched himself to the limits of his capacity for creativity to land on the perfect team name for it: the Super Intelligence Force (SIF).

“Following the Historic White House Accord on Super Intelligence, where the World’s most important Technology Companies came together and confirmed their responsibilities to the American People, I am announcing the formation of the Super Intelligence Force,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

As the entire world knows — to what should be the embarrassment of anyone who still believes in American exceptionalism — last month, Trump announced to the UN General Assembly that here in the good old United States of Asininity, we are changing the name of artificial intelligence to “super intelligence.” Of course, while Trump wants the US to be all in on AI, he has to appease those pesky AI experts and top AI company leaders who seem to think AI development needs more oversight and stronger guardrails.

Sure, Trump thinks all the AI concern is a “hoax,” but he didn’t get where he is today listening to non-experts who don’t know things — I mean, unless we count literally every nanosecond of his abysmal second term as president.

So, last week, we reported that Trump announced he and the aforementioned top AI company leaders had signed a voluntary accord that will include internal and external reviews but is still largely an agreement for tech companies to “self-police” rather than rely on government oversight, which Trump has refused to implement a policy for, which leads us to the question: WTF is a federal AI task force going to do?

“The Super Intelligence Force will coordinate the Federal Government’s engagement with Consumers, Public Interest Groups, Religious Organizations, Critical Infrastructure Providers, and Super Intelligence Companies,” Trump Trumpsplained in his post.

Coordinate engagement? So, basically, this task force is, what, a federal spam folder where the president can forward AI concerns he thinks are fake?

Anyway, according to NBC News, Trump has tapped National Intelligence Director Jay Clayton to lead this task force as his AI czar, because our president loves czars almost as much as he loves creating new government departments that make the administration look busy pretending to solve problems while not really doing anything. (This time, he couldn’t come up with a snappy name like DOGE, so he went with some bootleg Avengers-sounding name instead.)

So, basically, the people who develop AI are telling the president that AI development needs crucial oversight, and the president responded with a nonbinding agreement for companies to self-regulate and a task force to make sure there’s some kind of communication with the government.

We really gotta start electing better people, y’all.
