Qatar Airways Is Growing Its Africa Footprint With New And Returning Routes

Qatar Airways is expanding its Africa schedule this summer with resumed flights to Seychelles, Kigali, and Marrakesh, as well as a new route to Port Sudan. According to Qatar Airways, the schedule changes begin on June 16, 2026, when the airline restarts four weekly flights to Seychelles and two weekly flights to Kigali. Daily service to Marrakesh resumes on July 1, followed by three weekly flights to Port Sudan on July 2.

The announcement adds capacity across East Africa, North Africa, Southern Africa, and the Indian Ocean region as the airline rebuilds its global network to more than 160 destinations. Qatar Airways said the additional flights will strengthen travel options through Hamad International Airport in Doha, where passengers can connect to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and other parts of the carrier’s international network.

Qatar Airways Restores Key Africa Routes And Adds More Flights

The June-and-July update brings several African destinations back into Qatar Airways’ schedule. Four weekly flights to Seychelles will restart on June 16, restoring Qatar Airways service to one of the Indian Ocean’s major leisure destinations. The same day, the airline will resume two weekly flights to Kigali, reconnecting its network to Rwanda’s capital. Marrakesh service will resume on July 1 with daily flights, adding another Moroccan destination to the summer timetable.

The resumed routes are only part of the expansion. Qatar Airways is also increasing service to several African cities it already serves. Alexandria will rise from three weekly flights to up to seven, while Cairo will increase from twenty-eight weekly flights to up to thirty-five. Cape Town will move from seven weekly flights to up to ten, and Dar es Salaam will increase from three weekly flights to up to seven. The Lusaka-Harare route will rise from five weekly flights to up to seven, while the Maputo-Durban route will increase from four weekly flights to up to seven.

Tickets are available through qatarairways.com and the airline’s mobile app. The added flights give passengers more departure choices during the summer travel period, especially on routes where higher weekly frequencies can improve schedule flexibility.

Port Sudan Becomes Qatar Airways’ Newest African Destination

Port Sudan is the only entirely new destination in the Africa schedule update. Qatar Airways said it will launch three weekly flights to the Red Sea city on July 2, 2026. The service will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. According to the airline’s schedule, flight QR1319 will depart Doha at 9 a.m. and arrive in Port Sudan at 11 a.m. The return flight, QR1320, will depart Port Sudan at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Doha at 4:20 p.m. Qatar Airways said the route will serve key markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including Oman and Pakistan.

The wider Africa update also shows how Qatar Airways is adding capacity across different travel segments. Seychelles and Marrakesh serve major leisure markets. Kigali strengthens access to Rwanda’s capital. Additional flights to Cairo, Alexandria, Cape Town, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka, Harare, Maputo, and Durban increase service in cities tied to tourism, business, family travel, and regional movement.
