January’s Tunnel ‘Fits we can’t stop thinking about
Between the NFL playoffs, NBA games (plus their courtside seats), the Australian Open, and even the Golden Globes, January left it all on the court in terms of a lot of our favorite athletes starting the year strong with their tunnel ‘fits. We’re kicking the year off with mainstays such as Angel Reese and Skylar Diggins, while the NFL gave us a lot to work with, too. Expect to see a lot of inspiring outerwear, including quite a bit of ethical fur and a ton of leather pants. Like, a ton.
Keep scrolling to see what caught our attention this month, and don’t forget to check out February’s ‘fits. With the Grammys, Super Bowl, and NBA All-Star Weekend all ahead, we expect some strong ones.
Naomi Osaka
Tennis player Naomi Osaka reminded us she’s “Wun of Wun” with this custom headpiece and umbrella designed by London-based Robert Wun. The fluidness of the veil is reminiscent of a butterfly that landed on Osaka five years ago at the Australian Open, and Nike patterned her dress to resemble a jellyfish. The best part of the look — hands down — was her entrance onto the tennis court. Bring on the drama.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese showed up to support her man, Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter, Jr., at the 2026 NBA Berlin Game wearing an Orlando Magic blue-colored hat, matching fur, a leather duster coat, and leather pants. But the game-winning piece? The fur and leather boots pulled high over the pants, all designed by Jennifer Le. You know, because you have to coordinate.
Skylar Diggins

WNBA star Skylar Diggins attended the 83rd Annual Golden Globes looking incredibly statuesque in an architectural silhouette, thanks to designer Tony Ward. The outfit featured large, moving black sequins (paillettes) and a deep blue overskirt.
Simone Biles

Between Simone Biles, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and Angel Reese supporting their men on the sidelines, we might need to start giving the wives and girlfriends — WAGS, if you will — their own version of Tunnel ‘Fits. This month, Biles, the Olympic gymnast, is showing how to customize a fur-lined leather trench coat, placing her husband Jonathan Owens’ name and number without the look appearing juvenile. Owens plays safety for the Chicago Bears.
Keion White
San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was a breath of fresh air in his ’90s oversized vintage blazer by Atlanta-based boutique Unique Threads. Typically, larger men wear extra-large patterns – such as a plaid the size of a huge window pane – to balance their body shape. It’s appreciated that White relied instead on strong tailoring and a good pair of jeans to get the job done.
Aziaha James
Speaking of strong statement outerwear, Unrivaled’s Aziaha James’ Rebel Vengeance Birth of Venus “shacket” is really good, too. It resembles a work of art without being stuffy when paired with all black. There are a few still available on resale platforms, including eBay, Depop and Poshmark, all mostly priced under $100.
Rae Burrell
Unrivaled Vinyl guard Rae Burrell loves a foldover boot moment, and we love that for her. This month, she’s wearing a version not unlike what we would expect to see if a frilly, foldover church sock and a denim skirt somehow, some way had a baby. Burrell keeps the look from looking too childish with a structured denim top and a skirt resembling two flannels stitched together. Fun!
Devin Duvernay

Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Duvernay understands his angles. See how the cropped cognac leather bomber jacket hits just above that sliver of his white T-shirt, which is tailored just so above his slouchy light blue jeans? Yeah, he just gets it.
Jaylon Johnson
You have to love a man who can pull off head-to-toe red. Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Jackson showed up to the NFC Wild Card game wearing a bright red three-piece suit and a matching coat worn over it. A red cowboy hat atop his head would have been enough, but he took it even further with the red Nike Air Force Ones sneakers and the red florals pinned to his jacket.
Nakobe Dean
It feels like forever ago that we were rooting for quarterback Jalen Hurts and his Philadelphia Eagles to make their third Super Bowl appearance. But Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean’s long leather trench is still top of mind. And you know how we know he knows he ate that look right up? He made it his Instagram profile picture.
Trevon Diggs
The 1970s called, and Green Bay Packers star Trevon Diggs picked up. His long shag coat, graphic T-shirt, and burnt red leather pants are a great way to channel a different era without the outfit feeling too costume-y.
