Coach Prime Declared Cancer-Free After Bladder Removal Surgery

Deion Sanders, NFL legend and head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, has officially been declared cancer-free following surgery to remove his bladder as part of treatment for a recent cancer diagnosis.

• Coach Deion Sanders was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer in May 2025, according to his medical team at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.

• On July 28, 2025, Sanders and his doctors held a press conference where Dr. Janet Kukreja, Director of Urologic Oncology, confirmed that Sanders is now considered cured following successful surgery.

• The procedure involved the removal of Sanders’ bladder and the creation of a neobladder using a portion of his intestine.

• Sanders revealed that he had kept the diagnosis private from his children, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, until after his surgery to avoid disrupting their focus on football.

• This is the latest in a series of major health challenges for Sanders, who previously underwent multiple foot surgeries and had two toes amputated due to circulation problems.
