Coach Prime Declared Cancer-Free After Bladder Removal Surgery

Deion Sanders, NFL legend and head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, has officially been declared cancer-free following surgery to remove his bladder as part of treatment for a recent cancer diagnosis.
What We Know:
-
Coach Deion Sanders was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer in May 2025, according to his medical team at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
-
On July 28, 2025, Sanders and his doctors held a press conference where Dr. Janet Kukreja, Director of Urologic Oncology, confirmed that Sanders is now considered cured following successful surgery.
-
The procedure involved the removal of Sanders’ bladder and the creation of a neobladder using a portion of his intestine.
-
Sanders revealed that he had kept the diagnosis private from his children, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, until after his surgery to avoid disrupting their focus on football.
-
This is the latest in a series of major health challenges for Sanders, who previously underwent multiple foot surgeries and had two toes amputated due to circulation problems.
-
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis and the procedure, Coach Prime says he feels blessed and plans to return to the sidelines with renewed energy and purpose.
Coach Prime may have lost a bladder—but not his fight, not his faith, and certainly not his fire.
