Apparently, MAGA Is Just Too Stupid To Understand Obama’s Cheesecake Factory Joke

Look, I’ve addressed this before — a few times, actually — but conservatives don’t understand comedy. There’s a reason why there aren’t many prominent stand-up comedians who are definitively right-wing, and there aren’t any widely viewed late shows or comedy movies that lean conservative. Sure, they make racist jokes and then default to “Ha-ha, you’re triggered” when nobody laughs, and they certainly thought “Let’s go, Brandon” was comedy gold for years, but they are devoid of the capacity for cleverness and nuance required to craft a quality joke, or to understand any joke that isn’t designed for people who have the emotional maturity of toddlers being entertained by birthday clowns.
Now, I’m not even saying the joke former President Barack Obama made about President Donald Trump having “the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” was even all that funny or clever, but the fact that the clueless, hue-less and humorless dweebs of the MAGA world didn’t understand that it was a diss on Trump’s tackiness, not on the Cheesecake Factory itself, is an indicator that they are the “low-IQ” folks they call everyone else, and that they simply don’t have the intelligence to detect the humor in any joke that doesn’t begin with “knock, knock,” whether it’s objectively funny or not.
Obama made the remark during a campaign rally in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, and it apparently struck a MAGA nerve, either because they’re unaware that during the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, dozens of palaces owned by the late Iraqi dictator were discovered to be decorated in gaudy gold — or because they eat at the Cheesecake Factory, and they think Obama was making fun of their favorite eatery.
The fine folks at Fox News appear to represent the latter.
“I think the most difficult part of what we just went over is The Cheesecake Factory, actually,” said Fox News host Martha MacCallum, one of Fox’s many blondes from the Cheesy Blonde Factory. “The Cheesecake Factory comment goes exactly to why Democrats lost the middle class, why they lost blue-collar voters. Because it’s kind of a ‘guns and religion’ clinging kind of comment and it turns a lot of people in this country off.”
Then Fox’s resident Black friend, Harris Faulkner, chimed in with an equally clueless diatribe about “all the birthday parties that people have at The Cheesecake Factory, my own family included.”
And, of course, conservatives are on other news programs reading the same script.
I mean, people are on the internet providing visual aids, and they still don’t get it.
I think I’m starting to understand why the pseudo-redneck comedy stylings of Theo Von, and the incelustious misogyny of Shane Gillis are all that passes for right-wing comedy. MAGA needs their jokes to be simple and poorly-conceived, not just for them to laugh, but for them to even understand it. Bonus points if the “joke” is bigoted; they love a good Klanned-up comedy routine.
To be fair, the Fox hosts weren’t quite as dense as Trump himself, who almost appears to believe the Cheesecake Factory is an actual factory, and that Obama was calling his White House a factory that produces cheesecakes.
“He’s not a smart guy. He’s not smart at all … for you to say it’s a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president,” says the guy who thinks his doctors keep making him take cognitive exams because they’re so impressed with his ability to identify a giraffe.
I also just don’t understand why they’re all choosing to ignore the Saddam Hussein aspect of the joke. As often as Trump refers to his predecessor as “Barack HUSSEIN Obama,” it’s surprising that that particular name drop wasn’t the thing he and his mindless MAGA parrots honed in on.
Perhaps they thought running with the narrative that “Barack HUSSEIN Obama admitted he had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with his brother Saddam” was a little too on the nose.
Nah, they’re all stupid enough to believe that, too.
Of course, what’s more obnoxious than their inability to understand a very simple joke is that they’re pretending to be offended on behalf of the middle class, while the current president is out here mocking people who are suffering the high gas prices his dumbass war in Iran caused, saying he doesn’t “give a damn,” because “We’re making a freaking fortune.”
They’re offended because they think Obama denigrated Cheesecake Factory patrons, but they’re fine with Trump actually denigrating the entire Somali nationality, saying “98%” of them “don’t work,” and don’t have to, “because they steal so much.”
Sure, the sitting president can stand on stage and make lewd remarks about a woman’s “ass,” but the guy who wore a tan suit that one time is just awful, because he made fun of Trump’s affinity for gold and gaudiness, which they went out of their way to interpret as an uppity negro’s swipe at a restaurant they’re the ones who seem to deem as lower class.
I mean, do these people even remember what Trump’s shoe line looked like?
Please, be for real, MAGA. You’re being ridiculous.
