Travis Kelce, 35, said that he solely cared about defeating the Buffalo Bills, but he claimed to be inspired by LeBron James after the Los Angeles Lakers star commended the Kansas City Chiefs tight end for shattering an NFL record.
The experienced football player surpassed the NFL Playoffs record for the most straight games with 100+ receiving yards on January 18 after scoring 117 yards against the Houston Texans in the divisional game.
Since both athletes are from the Cleveland region, the four-time NBA champion was one fan of his effort and immediately took to social media to promote his fellow Ohioan, which made Kelce feel emotional.
On his New Heights podcast, Kelce discussed the Laker legend’s commendation: “Now, see, this got me going,” “This was great. Thanks, ‘Bron.”
Travis Kelce focused on Bills
In an otherwise difficult season for the veteran player, the tight end broke Tony Gonzalez’s franchise record for most touchdowns and set a new record for consecutive receptions.
However, Kelce isn’t interested in records right now since he is focused on defeating Josh Allen’s Bills in the AFC Championship game. There is a time and place for that.
Kelce went on: “All these stats and accolades and everything, they’ll be cool when I’m done playing,”
“I’ll be able to look back and say, ‘Nice, man.’ But right now, I’m just focused on beating the Buffalo Bills.
“I could really care less about passing any of Jerry Rice’s records, and, shoutout to Jerry Rice. I’m not saying that to downplay that.”
Taylor Swift is anticipated to be present when the Chiefs play the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26 from 18:30 ET/15:30 PT, live on CBS Sports.
