Former New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski has shifted his position on Bill Belichick‘s relationship with Jordan Hudson, describing the circumstances at the University of North Carolina (UNC) as a continual source of distraction. This change of attitude occurs weeks after Gronkowski first stood up for Hudson after she interrupted Belichick’s CBS interview, which is now notorious.
Gronkowski recently spoke on 98.5 The Sports Hub, where he discussed Belichick’s enduring motto from their Patriots days: removing distractions. Belichick’s current circumstances at UNC, he said, appear to be very different from that idea.
According to Gronkowski: “You know, and in the back of your head too, you’re just thinking to yourself as well, ‘When you were on the Patriots, the whole goal was to eliminate all the distractions that can possibly happen while you’re on the team,'”
“And don’t bring those distractions to the team and in the locker room, and we’re just looking down at the program in North Carolina and it feels like there are just distractions 24/7 down there. There’s no football talk as well.”
His comments came after sportswriter Pablo Torre claimed that Hudson had been barred from UNC’s football stadiums; the university has refuted these allegations. UNC responded with a statement that made it clear that Hudson will continue to oversee Belichick’s personal brand in addition to his duties for the university and Carolina Football.
