In a land before their life partners, children, and the expansion of their respective empires far beyond music (see: fashion, beauty, acting, etc.), R&B and Pop divas Ciara and Rihanna were headline-making rivals – odds that exploded into a full-on spat after the two went head-to-head in an unforgettable 2011 Twitter spat.
And though the two went on to apologize to each other, their virtual duel lives on in Pop culture infamy over a decade later.
So much so, Rih was indirectly quizzed about it during a recent chat with ‘Interview’ magazine.
As we reported here, Rih – when not turning heads in the article’s eccentric photo shoot – had tongues wagging with quotes from its Mel Ottenberg-curated interview that included her dishing on new music, having more children, and more.
A standout from the sitdown chat came when Ottenberg asked her thoughts about her former reputation for being an Internet bad girl in the early 2010s having used social media to slam the likes of Joan Rivers, Amanda Bynes, Draya Michele, and Ciara at the time.
“The troll in me, she had a time,” Rih responded after Ottenberg asked if she missed being on the internet and directly referenced the infamous quote “Good luck booking that stage you speak of.” “Unfortunately, you can’t take anything back from the internet, so I will always have the reminders, but the best troll in me is the silent troll.”
Fans of Rih and Cici know the “good luck” comment derives from the back-and-forth squabble the two engaged in during their epic Twitter shadefest.
