Lady Gaga has unleashed ‘Mayhem’ on the masses with her seventh studio album.

Long anticipated, the project is preceded by chart-topping smash ‘Die With A Smile’ featuring Bruno Mars, as well as ‘Disease,’ and the ultra viral ‘Abracadabra.’

The taster cuts to the era’s aesthetics have seen the album touted as a return to “dark Pop” for the superstar – who has long been celebrated as one of modern music’s most versatile talents.

With ‘Mayhem’ finally upon us, That Grape Juice has tallied our top 5 songs from the set.

Join us after the jump…

Zombieboy

Electrifying excellence!

Gaga is no stranger to pulsating uptempos, yet this sees her slide on her Funk pumps and strut like never before to a track that is unquestionably the sonic cousin of hits such as ‘Cuff It’ and aptly ‘Uptown Funk.’ A sprinkle of ‘Hollerback Girl’ too.

Perhaps most compelling is its production – courtesy of Gaga, Cirkut, and Andrew Watt.

It’s easy to hear how the track could have still hit with a simple Synth-Pop structure. Yet, much like the artist at its center,  it tosses the rulebook to the side and elevates the more with dynamite drums, hooks on hooks, a gorgeous guitar solo, and climactic modulation.

An absolute MUST as a future single. A must.

Killah (ft. Gesaffelstein)

While on the promotional trail for ‘Mayhem,’ Gaga pointed to Prince-influences on the project and it wasn’t hyperbole.

Because this is drenched in the sonic brilliance of the Purple One.

Seductive and Funk-driven, the braggadocious track serves as one of the album’s finest moments.

Abracadabra

What’s left to be said about this instant classic?

Easily one of most of the towering pillars of brilliance in a discography and career defined by brilliance, this dancefloor banger manages to hold its own amidst an avalanche of new material on the project.

Infectious, rousing, and all sorts of resonating, ‘Abracadabra’ brings with it the kind of magic that makes Gaga one-of-one.

Perfect Celebrity

It’s understandably easy to collectively eye-roll songs that see superstars bemoan the intricacies of superstardom. Superstardom that they actively sought out.

Yet, with a career as colossal as Gaga’s (with all its peaks, valleys, and redemptions) as well as a creative pen as potent as hers too, this Rock-inspired track manages to make for a wholly compelling listen.

Shadow Of A Man

Unapologetic Pop bliss!

Evocative of the glowing sonic colors found on ‘The Fame,’ this catchy cut steadily builds before exploding into a simply euphoric chorus that unpacks a rather complex romantic narrative.

If “reheated nachos” are on the menu, we’re eating it up!
