Diddy took another L on Friday (October 11) in his bid to be released from jail.
As reported, the embattled mogul is currently behind bars on federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution and – as newly surfaced reports assert – is likely to remain there until his May 2025 trial.
Details inside.
In a ruling filed Friday, a federal appeals court judge William J. Nardini denied the music and fashion mogul (born Sean Combs) immediate prison release as a decision is pending on his latest bail motion.
Instead, Nardini referred the motion to a three-judge panel within the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
The decision comes as the latest blow to Combs’ legal team who are adamantly pushing for the 54-year-old to serve the time in “home detention” at his $48 million Florida estate until the trial.
As with all previous failed attempts, the courts have based their denial on Diddy being deemed a flight risk.
“Indeed, hardly a risk of flight, he is a 54-year-old father of seven, a U.S. citizen, an extraordinarily successful artist, businessman, and philanthropist, and one of the most recognizable people on earth,” reads the appeal filing in response to the accusation.
Further, his attorneys proposed round-the-clock “monitoring by trained third-party former state and federal law enforcement officers,” no internet or phone access for the mogul, a pre-approved visitor list, no female contact (outside of family members), and that he surrenders his passports.
So far, nothing has appeased the judges.
The court denial news came shortly before representatives from the federal government took to press to respond to accusations lifted by Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, that they leaked the 2016 footage of him assaulting Cassie to the press.
“The government did not possess the video published by CNN prior to its public release, and the government possessed no surveillance video at all from the Intercontinental prior to CNN’s public broadcast,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson reportedly replied. “Accordingly, we wish to advise you that we consider any assertion in your motion of a purported government leak related to the Intercontinental surveillance video to lack a good faith basis.”
Johnson’s statement arrived after Combs’ defense filed an appeal on Wednesday (October 9) accusing the Department of Homeland Security of creating a smear campaign to tank their client’s public reputation and impede a jury’s ability to give him an impartial trial.
