Janet Jackson Rep Says Manager-Issued “Apology” For Saying Kamala Harris Is “Not Black” Was “NOT Authorized”

Whoops now takes on new meaning for Janet Jackson amid ongoing criticism for explosive comments she made about the U.S. Presidential election and Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris during a recent sitdown with ‘The Guardian.’

Now, in a surprising turn of events, an apology issued on the Pop diva’s behalf early Sunday (September 22) has been branded “unauthorized” by reps from her camp.

More inside.

As reported here, Saturday (September 21) brought with it a firestorm of controversy for the usually reserved Jackson once ‘Guardian’ took to press with an interview where she suggested “mayhem” will ensue after the results of the 2024 U.S. Presidential election – regardless of who wins.

What’s more, she suggested Harris – who has proudly proclaimed she is of Black and Indian heritage – was “not Black” and that her father is a White man.

After celebrities, fans, and detractors alike swarmed social media all weekend long with critical commentary about Jackson’s weigh-in, an apology was issued to Buzzfeed on the Pop diva’s behalf from her “manager “Mo Elmasri.

“She deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman. Janet apologizes for any confusion caused and acknowledges the importance of accurate representation in public discourse,” Elmasri told the publication. “We appreciate the opportunity to address this and will remain committed to promoting unity.”

The statement left many scratching their heads as it’s widely known the singer’s brother, legendary Jackson 5 star Randy Jackson, serves as her current manager.

Clearing up the confusion, a rep from Janet’s team quickly took to press to confirm Mo is not her manager and thusly in no position to speak for her.

Once news reached his desk, he confirmed he is no longer working for the ‘All For You’ singer.

“I no longer work for her. I was fired by Janet and Randy, after attempts to improve her image in front of public opinion and her fans, and this is something I do not deserve,” he told ‘Variety’ before saying she still has “all my support.”

At the time of this report, Janet, Randy, nor Kamala have directly spoken up about the hoopla.
