As reported, the Murder INC co-founder and architect of careers such as Ja Rule and Ashanti passed away at age 54. Gotti, who was vocal about his struggles with diabetes, is believed to have suffered stroke.

With an outpouring from the music and entertainment industry at large, the star’s three children – Angie, Sonny and JJ – have issued a statement moments ago.

It read:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving “Irv Gotti” Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. Surrounded by family and friends, he departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and the countless lives he touched.

Our dad was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the hip-hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans alike. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to influence future generations.

As we navigate this difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy while we grieve the loss of our dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through his music and the love he shared with all of us.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.

With love,
Angie, Sonny, and JJ”

Daughter Angie added a personalized tribute, writing:

I can’t even explain how heartbroken I feel, and it’s really hard to accept the fact that you’re not here anymore. I’m so grateful that God gave us the time we had together, and we truly made the absolute best of it. I’ll miss your personality, I’ll miss clowning you about your clothes, and how you truly didn’t care what people thought! ???? Your presence was unmatched and one of a kind! You were an AMAZING dad, and I’m so glad you knew how much we loved you and would go to war for you—and we STILL will!

I’m happy you got to see me get engaged, but I’m shattered that you won’t get to walk me down the aisle because it was all we talked about lately, and you were so excited. You told me you were ready for grandchildren, and I know you would’ve been the coolest grandpa. I’m at peace knowing you feel free and at rest. I know you’re up there with Grandma, Poppi, Mackie, and Marcus.

I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVEN BEYOND THAT.

From your little Angie ????

Gotti’s ex wife Debbie Lorenzo added:

“Irv, you will be greatly missed. I can’t believe I’m saying that! ????

Married, divorced, great friends, and so many life lessons—everything we’ve been through good and bad has molded me into the woman I am today! God never wastes anything; He uses everything for His ultimate glory.

Irv the Icon, you ignited the music industry with your presence, vision, and talent. You shattered records and did it all on your own terms. You had a truly big heart.

You fought long and hard, and now you’re resting. Know that we raised three beautiful, compassionate young adults, and I’m honored that God chose us to be their parents. It brought me joy to see them take such great care of you. Rest well; I love you my friend.”

Our thoughts are with Gotti’s loved ones.
