One of the NBA’s most divisive players right now is Karl-Anthony Towns. The previous number one selection is unquestionably extremely skilled, but for some reason, people are unwilling to give him the credit he deserves. This was evident Friday night when Draymond Green criticized him in a tweet even though his Knicks had defeated the Denver Nuggets by a significant margin.
The Knicks easily defeated the Nuggets 122-112, and KAT’s defensive efforts were crucial in keeping Nikola Jokic quiet. Just 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists were recorded by the reigning MVP.
Draymond Green’s tweet and Patrick Beverley’s reaction
Green wrote that KAT would “never hold the respect from an opponent” if he protected them the way he did, despite his low numbers.
KAT in a full front on Joker… even if you win the game it don’t matter. You will never hold the respect from an opponent to win at the highest level… pride must make you sit down and guard, even if you give up 40… Winning is a mindset, and in order to win a championship…

It makes sense that this tweet offended a lot of people. KAT made a significant contribution and was able to slow down Jokic, which had appeared nearly impossible in recent seasons. Towns’ old teammate Patrick Beverley criticized Green, saying he was severely undervaluing the Knicks center’s defensive contribution.
In addition, he acknowledged KAT’s extraordinary talent and said that, in contrast to Green’s perception, his contemporaries respected him.
cmon Dray give that man his flowers . Kat was the main reason minnesota beat the nuggets last season.
i know we competitive as athletes but Kat is a talent and is respected by his peers. seems like u don’t respect him which is cool but Kat got real game.
Luv Gang @KarlTowns… https://t.co/kgAP9FKiRQ

His remarks regarding Minnesota’s series victory over the Nuggets the previous season are also accurate because of how strong KAT’s defense was.
