Dan Lanning’s Incredible Halftime Speech Goes Viral

Dan Lanning of Oregon is one of the most inspirational coaches in all of collegiate football. The Ducks’ yearly rivalry game against the Washington Huskies on Saturday had a lot of it.

Prior to Saturday’s match, Lanning had a 0–3 record against Washington. He had more in mind than just defeating the Huskies in the Cascade Clash. His goal was to destroy them.

That’s what he taught his troops at halftime. The team was fired up by Lanning’s bizarre halftime statement, which put Oregon ahead 28–14.

Dan Lanning’s war cry went viral

Lanning put on a show in the locker room to demonstrate his desire for the Ducks to metaphorically knock Washington’s skulls in. Oregon’s head coach grabbed a UW helmet, threw it into the air, and then invited Wilson Love, the strength and conditioning coach, to use a sledgehammer to bash the helmet into the center of the Ducks’ locker room.

The rivalry between the Ducks and Huskies is still fierce even after they left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten. Oregon’s 49–21 victory over the Huskies was their largest since 2012, and they lived up to their coach’s expectations. The Ducks finished the season unblemished, which no other team in the nation could do, and were seeded first.
