Chingy Drops Out of Headlining LGBT Republican Event After Backlash: “I’m Not a Trump Supporter”

And thurr y0u have it.

After days of unceremonious backlash for his inclusion in an LGBT Republican fundraiser, ‘Right Thurr‘ rapper Chingy has decided to axe himself from the event’s star-studded performance roster.

Details inside.

As reported here, Chingy (born Howard Bailey Jr.) took time over the weekend to clap back at detractors who criticized him for being a featured performer at ‘Red, White, and Rock’ – a Republican fundraiser designed to support LGBT conservatives.

MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS,” he said on social media at the time.

Led by MAGA notables like Donald Trump Jr., the Nashville-based event is scheduled for September 29.

Just a week ahead of kickoff, however, it appears the 2000’s rapper has had a change of tune.

“YOU KNO WHAT JUS CAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS MESS. I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM MOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY. THURR YOU HAVE IT,” he wrote in the Instagram comments section of Baller Alert.

At the time of this report the event’s organizers have not spoken out about Chingy’s sudden dropout.

Longtime fans of Bailey know this isn’t the first time he’s ruffled feathers for supposed Trump support.

During his first run for presidency in 2016, Chingy took to Twitter to openly admit voting for the businessman-turned-politician (as seen in the tweet above) but later retracted the statement after backlash.

“I didn’t know about some of the negative things he had to say about some of the races out here and about the hip-hop community,” he told Billboard at the time. “I didn’t know a lot of the negative things, I was kind of commenting off reading that article and reading some of the good things that he said, so that’s kind of where my comments came from.”

Eventually, Bailey recorded and uploaded a video titled ‘I DO NOT endorse Donald Trump’ and clarified the statement on MTV. See that interview here.
