Caitlin Clark Names Her All-Time Favorite Athlete

As the new WNBA draws near, Caitlin Clark immediately shared her favorite athlete of all time. The star of the Indiana Fever is finishing up her first complete WNBA offseason.

Clark made an appearance at the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club last weekend. One of the many questions posed to the 23-year-old during an interview at a Mercedes-Benz-sponsored event in Augusta concerned the athlete who helped establish her prominence in sports.

Clark didn’t waste much time revealing that tennis great Serena Williams was her “favorite athlete” as a child. Clark said: “I loved Serena Williams. Like, she was probably my favorite athlete of all time,”

“I just, you know, thought she was the greatest thing ever – and then also, I was a young girl being able to look up to that.

“I thought that was incredible.”

“I got kicked out of tennis class when I was like 10, so that didn’t last long,” “I got mad at the instructor because I thought it was too easy.”

Clark is off to a great start, but she still has a ways to go before she can match the impact of 23-time major women’s singles champion Williams.

Clark won the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award, is the all-time top scorer in the NCAA, and helped the Fever qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2016. She has also brought a lot of attention and popularity to the WNBA and women’s basketball.
