Nicki Minaj has the haters seeing red and the Billboard charts seeing pink thanks to the impressive debut of her fifth studio album.

Despite previously calling out Billboard for their alleged attempt to misrepresent the true sales figure attached to ‘Pink Friday 2,’ the December 8-released project still managed to move 228,000 total units by the end of its inaugural sales week.

In addition to being Nicki’s best opening since 2014’s ‘The PinkPrint’ (which debuted at #2 to the tune of 244,000), the ‘PF2’ premiere marks the largest launch any female Rap album has had this decade – zooming past the 109,000 units that led the previous titleholder, ‘Planet HER’ by Doja Cat, to a top 5 debut in 2021.

A history-making entry, the #1 arrival of ‘PF2’ marks the first time any rapstress has ever earned three Billboard 200 chart-toppers over her career.

What’s more, it extends the Rap Queen’s reign as the most-decorated top 10 female rapper in the chart’s existence (7).

While she joins Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown, Lizzo, and Eve in Billboard history books as the only female rappers to have a top 10 studio album on the all-genre chart in more than one decade, Nicki is the first and only to boast having #1s in two different decades.
